Dunfermline Support Group
Started in Autumn 2015, this is the newest group formed in Fife, and is looking for both new members and volunteers.
Julienne and Catherine, facilitators for the Kirkcaldy group, have agreed to manage the group for an initial trial period, but we hope that West Fife members will take on, and develop the group with support from MS Fife Branch.
Meetings are on the second Wednesday of each month, in Baldridgeburn Community Centre KY12 9EH from 6.30-8pm. Please come along to discuss how you would like this group to develop. We hope to support people with MS and their families with information, discussion groups and social events, but it’s really up to you. Would you like a meeting point for newly diagnosed people? A men’s group? come along and let us know if you would like to be involved in any way. Phone Fife Branch on 07733 616770 for more details.
Multiple choiceS group meets on 1st Tuesday of month at the Woodmill Inn (12.30 lunchtime) and on the third Tuesday of the month in various other venues throughout the Dunfermline area.
New members are welcome, but it would be helpful if you can contact the group beforehand, in order to inform the venue of numbers for lunch.
For details of next meeting, please contact Linda on 01383 723096.
There is a social group in central Fife which meets for Lunch at the Simply Scrumptious Cofee House, Waverly Rd, Kirkcaldy, KY1 3NH on the second Wednesday of each month at 12.30. Lunch and a friendly chat with people living with MS. Carers, family and friends welcome.
For further details contact Alastair on 07954 433563 or Branch on 07733 616770
The group meets in St Bryce Kirk, Kirkcaldy, 6.30-8-30 on the last Thursday of the month. This group has a focus on self-management and topics related to MS, and is an information point for anyone affected by the condition. Group facilitators, Julienne and Catherine are happy to welcome families and carers as well as people with MS and hope new members will pop in to meet us in the coming months.
Suggestions for topics for future meetings are welcomed, and we will invite guest speakers to cover topics outwith our expertise. Please come along to meet others “walking in our shoes”, and take part in a support network, where you are as likely to help others, as to get answers yourself.
The Kirkcaldy Group has a break over the summer months, usually June and July.
Please contact Julienne on 07733 616770
North East Fife
This group has been running for nearly 25 years in St Andrews. Meetings are in the Scooniehill Centre on the first Friday of each month, with a break over the winter months. The meetings are well attended, and very popular, with refreshments being served by a lovely band of lady volunteers. Guest speakers, quizzes and organised social events are the order of the day. For further details please contact Kay Whittaker on 01334 478563.
Fife Branch will be happy to consider starting new groups in other areas, where demand is high, and volunteer numbers allow. If you would like to start a group in your area, please contact the Branch to discuss .
